About Us
The Student Success Center in the McCoy College of Business is a new initiative within the college and the first of its kind at Texas State University. The center focuses on the academic, professional, and personal development of McCoy undergraduate students.

Dr. Terrance McClain is a native Houstonian and higher education professional with a passion for student success. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University- College Station. After completing his bachelor he chose to continue his education in the Student Affairs in Higher Education at Texas State University, and later in the Adult, Professional, and Community Education doctoral program, graduating in 2019. Dr. McClain has devoted his research to Black/African American male student success. He has served on professional boards and committee within three academic advising field and has been recognized on countless occasions for his commitment to student success Currently, he serves as the inaugural Director for the student success Center in the McCoy College of Business where he leads a team of two and works tirelessly to supports student’s academic, professional, and personal success. Dr. McClain is a man of faith and integrity. He is most thankful for his wife and daughter who support him in all that he does.

Kristine comes to us with over 12 years of experience in higher ed. She began her journey with student success at Texas A&M University-Kingsville where she served as Assistant Director for Peer Mentoring. She then continued her journey to Texas State working with the Title V CAFE grant where she assisted with building a Career Readiness Institute for Juniors and Seniors, help students build their soft-skills, making them a better candidate post graduation. As a first generation student herself, giving back to students and assisting with their success is one her many passions.
